Why create a whole new brand?

The branding and the site itself is a sub-branding of my agency called Pear’s Studio. The main thought behind it is that I don’t want to be limited in what I create. Pear’s Studio has become a place of professional business and it should remain as such. This aspect though does not give me the creative freedom for the other works that I do. For example, I do street & portrait photography, I design fun graphics, and I have a tendency to invent things and do DIY projects. Also, there is no room to share all the great things that inspire the works that I do. This is why I also have started this journal.

Stylistically, Pear’s Studio & Josh Pears are two different demographics. Josh Pears is my personality, so it has a more urban/pop art feel. The site design is has be inspired by DeStijl and Bauhaus design, post-modern design. It has, of course, my own stylistic swing to it by adding a flat 3D look but I always pay homage to my inspirations.

What will you find on this site?

The homepage, works, and journal, are the three main pages of the site. The homepage is just a synopsis of all the branches. The works has 6 categories, Design, DIY, Photo, Snippets, Video, and Web. The Photo category has sub-categories of different photography types. All of these can be navigated through the custom filter at the top of each category page. Each category has its own layout and custom data. An example of this is the Photo categories show the gear that I used in each project and links to the model & location.

So go ahead, don’t be afraid to click, just dig in and explore.

Future plans for Josh Pears

I will be eventually be creating a store on here which will house prints of photography and apparel with my designs on it. I might even start posting videos on Youtube, we’ll see.
