The Problem
A personal portfolio site is easy to outgrow — and mine did, fast. As Pear’s Studio expanded from a one-person practice into a full-service creative agency, the existing site no longer reflected the breadth of what we could actually deliver. I needed something that didn’t just list capabilities but demonstrated them — a site that was itself the proof of concept, functioning as a live showroom for every discipline in the studio’s arsenal.
The Process
I approached the build the way I’d approach any brand problem: strategy first, craft second. The architecture was built around PEARFOLIO, a custom post type system that let services speak for themselves through structured, branded content blocks rather than generic page templates. I integrated Square booking directly into service pages to collapse the distance between interest and conversion, layered in custom Lottie animations and particle.js to signal technical range without overshadowing the work, and designed a bespoke “Nutrition Facts” label for the About page — a piece of conceptual design that said more about the studio’s sensibility than any bio ever could. Every interaction was built to work flawlessly on mobile, because a studio site that stumbles on a phone isn’t making the right argument.
The Results
The site became the agency’s single most effective new business tool — a demonstration, not just a description, of what Pear’s Studio could produce. The combination of animated interactions, seamless booking integration, and a custom navigation system gave prospective clients an immediate sense of the studio’s technical and creative range before a single conversation took place. It set the visual and strategic standard that would carry forward into Pears Media Group.
